Sheldon began playing the piano and harmonica at the
age of 12. At 16 he began to play the guitar and played in high school and
college bands. While in Israel at the age of 21, he joined a rock band
from Jerusalem called The Electric Stage as a bass player. That band is
now considered the first Israeli progressive rock band and the album they
recorded with Danny Ben Israel (Chantarish 3 1/4) is now considered the
best psychedelic album ever to have come out of that country. *

At age
24 Sheldon studied music formally at Merritt College in Oakland CA and, at

working with such artists Dodge Bolton, Jenny Jones, Jean Paul Vignon, Pam
Feener, Bill Cosby, David Arkenstone, Johnny Tillotson, Jesse Ed Davis, Jon
Detherage, Jay (Jay Burrrid) Mitthauer, Sheila

As music technology progressed, Sheldon was able to go from six
piece show band to four and five piece bands to duo and, finally, in 1990,
to solo act, giving the term "One Man Band" new meaning. While
most solo artists require pre-recorded tracks to produce a full band
sound, Sheldon, by virtue of being able to play guitar, bass, keyboards,
blues harp and drums is able to create the music of a full band playing
all the instruments in real time. With a song list of over 400 songs
Sheldon is able to cover virtually any type of musical situation. Formerly
a member of The Boogie Brothers, when
Sheldon went solo he became "The Boogie
Man". |
| Sheldon Kahan has toured three continents working his unique brand of magic from concerts
in the Holyland to coffee houses in England and the Continent to Southern California
to Nashville where
he now appears locally and can often be seen playing gigs around town with
Three Legg Dogg, The Boogie Man, his solo dance/show band, and now, as a vocal/acoustic concert act.
Sheldon has recorded two albums, namely "City Lights"
and "Out Of The Shadows". Both albums can be heard on this web site.
Sheldon is now working on his third album.
Sheldon relocated to Nashville in 2001.
Sheldon Kahan is a subject of biographical record in the prestigious
"Marquis Who's Who In Entertainment".
